Daniel Stephens
CEOWith over 18 years experience in electrical telecommunication, engineering, assurance and project management, Daniel is a chartered engineer who has worked for a number of organisations, encompassing a variety of engineering roles at various levels. Experienced in project management, Daniel specialises in new train build and introduction, rail projects, engineering assurance and customer, stakeholder interfacing.

Ema Chillingworth
Project EngineerEma is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with 20 years of experience in Manufacturing, Rail and Civil Nuclear industries and a proven ability in project management, design, analysis, product development, consultancy and support services. Prince2 qualified, Ema's skills include an ability to absorb, exploit and communicate complex information and proficiency with a wide range of engineering techniques and software packages and produce quality results in an efficient and effective manner. As a Project Engineer, Ema is responsible for product development and implementation, including track geometry measurement systems (TGMS), automatic vehicle inspection systems (AVIS), infrastructure monitoring systems, rolling stock, change management, requirements management, TOM reviews, Vehicle Maintenance VMI/VMS reviews, general technical reviews, and design reviews.

Nerdeep Mann
Managing DirectorNerdeep has over 17 years of experience working in the rail industry and a further ten years in management roles within the manufacturing industry. Having managed diverse teams of varying abilities and sizes to deliver new rolling stock projects, rolling stock refurbishment and modification projects, Nerdeep is skilled in operations management and an expert in enhanced manufacturing techniques and processes. As Managing Director, Nerdeep is responsible for the day to day operational management of the team including project management, lean production techniques, audits, company policies and processes, ISO (international organisation for standardisation) and escalations.

Josh Gilsenan
Operations DirectorAs Railway Operations Director, Josh is responsible for bids, project planning, resource management, operational controls, governance and Targeting Operating Model (TOM) reviews. Josh brings over 14 years of engineering and project management experience - from his time working as an Apprentice at a rail manufacturer to being a Project Manager on the Transpennine route upgrade project in the North East to manage competency and fatigue on the project and also to set up a system to drive compliance and performance. Combined with his wealth of academic qualifications - including a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), a Level 7 Diploma in strategic leadership and management, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering - means Josh is well placed to scrutinise operations and put together efficient solutions and operational processes that deliver excellent service and value to our customers.

Gabriela Botha
Vehicle EngineerGabriela joined Encompass Engineering's graduate programme in 2021 after graduating from Stellenbosch University with a degree in mechanical engineering. As a Vehicle Engineer, Gabriela has worked on several projects - from a new fleet introduction for Greater Anglia's class 720s to maintenance audits for Thameslink Railway Class 717s, allowing her to develop a strong understanding of what is required to test and review new fleets to the highest standard. Gabriela enjoys the variety of her role and the daily challenges that allow her to use her problem-solving skills whilst developing her practical expertise and industry knowledge.

Andrew is the definitive ‘full-system’ expert, with an appreciation of engineering and expertise across the whole gamut of rail operations - from timetabling to stock and crew diagramming and performance modelling.

Francesca Gonnella
Engineering Project ManagerGraduating from Leeds Beckett University with a first-class Bachelor of Science degree - specialising in music technology, Fran joined Encompass in 2020 and is our first employee to complete the Graduate programme.
As an Engineering Project Manager specialising in Acoustics, Fran works across a variety of projects - from railway noise research with the RSSB to a new fleet introduction for West Midland Trains' class 196's. Using the knowledge she has built of both rail projects and the rail industry, she applies her knowledge of acoustics to help companies meet their noise requirements, which is essential in the current climate where Railway noise is widely recognised as an issue that impacts the health and well-being of those using and working within the rail industry and is an important consideration on the path towards a more environmentally friendly railway system.

Matthew Bagshawe
Engineering & Innovation DirectorMatt is a MEng qualified Chartered Engineer with over 20 years of experience within the rail industry, having spent a number of years working on test trains and developing test equipment. With experience, including infrastructure monitoring, rolling stock engineering and telecommunications, Matt now uses his skills as Engineering and Innovation Director to support projects across the UK and Europe.

Responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategy for the company, Faye has a proven track record in defining target markets, refining brand messaging and delivering creative integrated marketing strategies and effective communications to engage our customers.
